Detroit Camping Trip 2011!!!

Hey everyone!

We are very excited for our 4th annual Detroit Camping Trip! The Holmes Family will be there Wed night thru Sunday night (June 8th - 13th). We have a great mix of folks coming!

FOOD

Unlike past years we are having everyone bring their own food. As I'm sure you can understand there are just to many of us to cook for. But we thought it would be nice to give you a run down on our food game plan so it's easy to copy if you'd like. The place has a covered area with a couple BBQ's and tables to cook at eat at. We will bring the extra condiments, ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc. for everyone to use.

Breakfast - whatever is easy to bring

Lunches - Our plan is to bring hotdogs, sausages and sandwich stuff for ourselves.

Dinners - We will try to keep dinners as communal as possible. Our dinner menu as follows...

Weds - Taco Soup, only a few people will be here first night we have everyone covered.

Thurs -The Holmes crew will be cooking ribs, corn & fire-baked potatoes with all the fixins. People are welcome to join with their variations.

Fri - BBQ Bunco/Poker night, everyone brings their favorite BBQ meats and sides and we have a cook out. After the food we will have games of Bunco and Poker going. Poker will be a $5 buy-in or you can play Bunco for free and compete for prizes.

Sat - Potluck. BRING YOUR BEST CAMPING DISH Need help deciding? Call Jennifer 503-866-4565

ACTIVITES - breakdown per day

WEDS - Arrive and set up camp

THURS - Depending on the weather Water Play and a Hike

FRIDAY - Bunco/Poker Party BBQ

SATURDAY - In the mid day we are planning to float the river in tubes back to our campsite. Bring your tubes or pick them up at your local Les Schwab for $10-15 dollars. If you don't want to tube or we all don't want to if the weather isn't good we will have horse shoes and Chuck-O to play.

Incase it does shower here and there we'll have many games, cards, and things to do!

COST - $10 for adults $5 for kids $5 for cars per night

GEAR AND SUPPLIES

There is a good chance we'll have showers over the week. Make sure you bring a tarp for under your tent. Having an air mattress or something else that will elevate you from the ground is a great as well. If you have extra tarps please bring. It's also nice to bring a big thing of drinking water.

CLEANING SUPPLIES - Thanks to Stacey we have a portable sink and will have a community area set up with soap and towels for washing dishes. I'll also bring other cleaning supplies that everyone can share.

FIRE WOOD - If you have any extra at home please bring some with you. Their is wood for sale at Detroit, but it is expensive.

DIRECTIONS

Take Exit 253 for OR-22 E toward Detroit Lake/Bend
Stay on 22 past Detroit Lake and the Detroit Lake City
A few miles past Detroit you will see Blow Out Road on the right hand side (their is a sign as well I believe)
Go about 3/4 mile on Blow Out Road and you will see a small gate on the right hand side labeled Hoover Campground Group Site, we will have our own signs up as well to help people see it. If you reach the larger Hoover Campground without the gate you have gone to far. The gate will be closed but unlocked, please just open the gate and shut it behind you. Find Jennifer to help find a suitable spot to setup camp.
